The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) yesterday said that it has revised the date for the relocation of its Licence Revenue Office from Smyth and Princes streets to GRA’s Parking Lot, Lamaha Railway Embankment, Camp and Lamaha streets due to hiccups in site readiness.
Operations at the Railway Embankment will now commence on December 6, 2021 instead of November 29, 2021 as previously announced.
Because of the one-week postponement, the office at Smyth and Princes streets will now close on Friday, December 3, 2021 to facilitate the move, a release from the GRA said.
The relocation will make way for demolition of the current office building and construction of a modern, more functional office space for the comfort of both staff and customers with optimised service. In the interim, the Parking Lot, Lamaha Railway Embankment site will be used as a temporary facility for motor vehicle registration, change of registration, transfer of registration, motor vehicle examination and sale of motor vehicle licence services.
The hours of operation at the Railway Embankment will be Mondays- Thursdays from 7:00AM to 3:30 PM, and Fridays from 7:00AM to 2:30PM.
Auto-dealers will be granted three half-hour slots daily to complete their transactions. They are:
Mondays to Thursday 7:00AM – 7:30AM, 11:30AM – 12PM, and 3:00PM-3:30PM, and
Fridays the third slot will be 2:00PM – 2:30PM.
All registration and examination services at this facility will be done by appointment through the online mailbox lroappointments@gra.gov.gy or via WhatsApp on 655-0806.
Persons whose only transaction is purchasing of motor vehicle licence(s) may use the drive-through facility at the Railway Embankment or purchase it at any other GRA office countrywide, the release said.
