Ryan Alberts also known as ‘Murray’ now awaits sentencing for the 2016 unlawful killing of 19-year-old miner Dalton Emmanuel, formerly of Yarakita, North West District.
Alberts appeared virtually yesterday before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow, pleading guilty to the charge of manslaughter which stated that on March 29th, 2016 in the County of Essequibo, he unlawfully killed Emmanuel.
He also accepted a charge which stated that on the same day he assaulted Mark Edwards so as to cause him actual bodily harm.
Justice Barlow has deferred sentencing to December 9th, pending the presentation of a probation report.
The indictments were presented by Prosecutor Latifah Elliot.
Alberts is being represented by defence attorney Ravindra Mohabir.
Stabroek News had previously reported that the now-deceased teen was involved in an argument with another man at Yarakita, during which he was stabbed in his abdomen with a pair of scissors.
