A St. Cuthbert’s Mission youth was on Thursday released on $200,000 bail after being charged with rape.
Shameer Clenkian, 20, of St. Cuthbert’s Mission, Mahaica River, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Melissa Mittelholzer at the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him.
He was not required to plead to the charge.
The magistrate released Clenkian on $200,000 bail with the condition that he reports to the Mahaica Police Station every Monday until the end of the proceedings before the court. The matter was adjourned until December 23.
The police said that Clenkien was arrested on November 21.
