A Princes Street man was on Friday released on $50,000 bail after denying that he was found with a quantity of marijuana in his possession.
Jaleel Baggot, 24, of Lot 19 Princes Street, Georgetown, was hauled before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where he was faced with the charge. He denied that on November 22 at Stabroek Market, he had in his possession 128 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
The court heard that Baggot was standing about five feet away from a shed and that there was another person close to the shed where the illicit substance was found. Baggot, however, said he was the only person that was arrested and charged.
The Police Prosecutor did not object to bail and as a result Baggot was released on $50,000 bail. The matter was adjourned until January 28.
