The Ministry of Health on Saturday confirmed that a fully vaccinated woman was the country’s latest COVID-19 fatality.
The Health Ministry, in a statement, reported that the 69-year-old woman, of Region Three (Essequibo Islands – West Demerara), who was fully vaccinated, died on Friday.
The death brings the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in Guyana to 986 to date.
In addition, a total of 44 new cases were also confirmed by the Ministry after 1,029 new tests were done. The new cases increased the country’s total number of cases to 37,707 to date.
According to the updated COVID-19 dashboard, new cases were recorded in Region One (2), Region Three (5), Region Four (25), Region Five (3), Region Six (8), and Region Seven (1). No new cases were reported for the other regions.
The dashboard also showed 16 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 1,399 persons in home isolation, 65 persons in institutional isolation and 2 persons in institutional quarantine.
