Three hundred and eighty-five Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) scholarship awardees have successfully completed their Continuing Professional and Educational (CPE) programmes offered at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus for the 2021 Summer semester.
According to a GOAL release, the students were enrolled in 16 of 22 programmes which included Introduction to Counselling, the Procurement Cycle, Photography, and Customer Service.
The CPE modules range from two to four months and empowered awardees having no formal education, with the opportunity to attain a certificate in their desired programme of studies. A total of 131 out of the 385 students are now continuing with Part II of their programmes, which will conclude on January 28, 2022.
UWI’s GOAL Programme Manager, Dionne Sue-Cox, disclosed that students who faced challenges and were unable to register for the summer 2021 semester, were given another opportunity to be enrolled in their programme of choice.
Meanwhile, GOAL’s acting director, Ronald Singh, congratulated the students. “We at GOAL take this opportunity to applaud these students for staying the course and completing their programmes. It was great work on their part and we wish them all the success in their future endeavours.”
UWI is one of GOAL’s partners in the effort to deliver online distance education to Guyanese to boost their academic profiles and skillsets, the release added.
