Defending champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway and challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi yesterday drew the third game of the world chess championships currently underway in Dubai.
Yesterday’s game ended in a draw after some 44 moves. The first two games were also drawn. Today is a rest day with the fourth round scheduled for tomorrow.
Nepomniachtchi is from Russia but is playing as a neutral as he cannot play under the Russian flag due to the World Anti-Doping Agency ban on his country following revelations of state-wide doping.
The championships are being held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, as part of Expo 2020 Dubai.
