The Georgetown Football Association (GFA) has announced its management staff for the upcoming Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/Kashif and Shanghai Super-16 championships.
According to a release sent to this newspaper, the team comprises General Manager Faizal Khan as well as the coaching quintet of Adrian Barrow, Jaffar Gibbons, Dillon Cadogon, Marlon Whitney, and Shawn Maloney. Mark Bradford is the press officer.
The release also stated that 40 players have been shortlisted for trials to select the final roster following the confirmation of their respective vaccination status.
Meanwhile, President of the GFA, Otis James stated that the association will be going all out to retain the title.
“We are the defending champions and we will leave no stone unturned in moving to defend the championship title. We have all the players vaccinated and all COVID-19 protocols are being executed at all levels of our operation,” stated James.
“The coaches are expected to present a training program and roadmap towards game day of the first fixture to the management team. GFA’s All-Star selection will see players from the affiliated clubs come together to form one combined Georgetown team and with the tournament set to kick off on December 11th, the coaches and management are working hard to get the squad ready,” the release added.
The event is penciled to commence at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda. The participating Elite Clubs are Fruta Conquerors, Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Western Tigers, Ann’s Grove, Buxton United, Milerock, Santos, Den Amstel, and Guyana Police Force (GPF). East Coast Demerara unit Victoria Kings have opted not to participate.
Participation from the other regional member associations will come from Rupununi, East Coast Demerara East Bank, West Demerara, Essequibo/Pomeroon, Bartica, Berbice, and Upper Demerara.
