The trial of Sylvester Vanderhyden who is accused of the 2008 murder of Melissa Payne is set to officially commence at 9:30 this morning before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow at the High Court in Demerara.
A jury was selected yesterday to hear the case.
The indictment against Vanderhyden to which he has pleaded not guilty, states that he murdered Payne on November 6th, 2008 at Agricola, East Bank Demerara.
The State will be represented by Prosecutors Lisa Cave, Cicelia Corbin and Latifah Elliot.
Vanderhyden is being represented by defence attorney George Thomas.
