Guyana’s COVID-19 deaths on Friday surpassed 1,000 after three more fatalities were reported.
The Ministry of Health, in a press release, announced that the country’s total deaths as a result of the virus increased to 1,001 with the latest fatalities. The deaths included two fully vaccinated men, ages 65 and 70, from Region Ten, who succumbed on December 3 and November 30, respectively. The other deceased was an unvaccinated man from Region Two, who succumbed on December 2.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s updated COVID-19 dashboard showed 41 new cases from 648 more tests that were done. The new cases increased the country’s total number of confirmed cases to date to 38,068. According to the dashboard, there are currently 1,043 active cases, 17 of which are in the COVID-19 intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The dashboard also showed that there were some 133 more recovered COVID-19 cases.
