The Ministry of Health on Saturday confirmed the deaths of three men, two of whom were unvaccinated, due to COVID-19.
The Health Ministry, in a statement, reported that the fatalities raised the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 1004.
Among them was an unvaccinated 82-year-old man of Region Five (Mahaica-Bervice), who died on November 22.
There was also a 54-year-old man of Region Three (Essequibo Islands – West Demerara), whose vaccination status was unknown, who died on Friday, and an unvaccinated 62-year-old man, of Region One (Barima-Waini), who died on Saturday.
In addition, a total of 50 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed by the ministry after 1,713 tests were done. The new cases increased the country’s total number of cases to 38,118.
Three new cases were recorded in regions One, Two and Five. Seven new cases were recorded in Region Three, 16 in Region Four, and 18 in Region Six. There were no new cases recorded in regions Eight, Nine and Ten.
The dashboard also showed 18 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 870 persons in home isolation, 56 persons in institutional isolation and 8 persons in institutional quarantine.
