A Corentyne man was arrested during the wee hours of yesterday morning after police found him with two goats, suspected to have been stolen, in his trunk.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), ranks were on patrol duty in the vicinity of Liverpool Village, Corentyne, when they observed the man’s car, HB 7127. “A search was conducted and two ewes (goats) were found in the trunk of the said vehicle,” the GPF said in a brief statement.
The driver, 23, was arrested and during questioning he purportedly claimed to the police that three men hired him to transport the goats from Number 35 Village, Corentyne.
The police added that checks were made for the three males but they were not found.
The driver was then escorted to the Whim Police Station, where the goats were lodged to be claimed while the investigation is ongoing.
