The Elite Pageant Company – Guyana in collaboration with the We Care Foundation will host a toy drive aimed at bringing joy to the children of Santa Mission and other communities along the West Demerara and East Demerara.
Director of the Elite Pageant Company – Guyana, Roshini Boodhoo said, “The purpose of the drive is to gather gifts for children who are less fortunate. The whole idea is to add some cheer and smiles to their faces. We know that there are lots of charity drives happening around this time, and they take different forms. In the past we would have done food drives as well as a toy, now we’re doing another toy drive where we are collaborating with the We Care Foundation.”
The drive, hashtagged #EveryChildShouldSmile is being spearheaded by Gianna Ramrattan, who will launch it on Wednesday with a visit to Santa Mission where approximately 100 children are expected to benefit.
The toys will cater for children from babies to 12 years old. The deadline for donations is the end of today. However, for persons unable to make the deadline, their donations will still be welcomed.
Persons who may not have the time to go shopping for a toy but still want to be a part of the drive, can also give monetary donations as the organisation has set aside a day to shop for additional gifts.
Clothing, footwear and school supplies will also be accepted and added to the packages.
