A construction worker is now dead after he fell from a scaffold while working at a Montrose, East Coast Demerara property yesterday.
The Guyana Police Force last night identified the deceased as Norman Abrams, 23, of Lot 804 ‘B’ Field, Sophia.
In a statement, the police said Abrams, who was employed with Christopher Menezes, of Lot 135 Third Street, Montrose, was on the scaffold with another worker at the time of the accident. They were reported to have been working on a section of the roof of a two-storey structure.
They both fell.
While his co-worker fell under the scaffold, Abrams fell in a neighbour’s yard. “He was found lying on his back in a pool of blood, with injuries to the head,” the statement said.
Abrams was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by his employer and colleague but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body is presently lying at the hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
