GT Panthers recorded the largest margin of victory to date in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/Guyana National Women’s Football Association (GNWFA) Super-16 Women’s Festival, mauling Mahdia All-Stars 13-0 yesterday at the National Training Centre, Providence.
The score-line eclipsed the previous 8-0 mark set by Fruta Conquerors on Wednesday, as the duo of Annalisa Vincent and Feona Benjamin ran riot with a combined 10 conversions, seven of which occurred in the first half which ended 8-0.
Vincent found the back of the net six times in the 7th, 27th, 37th, 44th, 74th and 75th minute, while Benjamin amassed a helmet trick compliments of conversions in the 29th, 35th, 38th and 62nd minute. The lopsided score was completed following strikes from the trident of Shavey Rueben, Bethsaida Williams, and Faye Williams in the 42nd, 52nd and 54th minute respectively.
The tournament continues tomorrow at the same venue with a doubleheader. Santos will oppose New Amsterdam United at 13:00hrs, while Guyana Police Force takes aim at Orealla from 15:00hrs. The event will conclude on January 2 at the GFF National Training Centre in Providence. The winner of the tournament will now receive $500,000 and the championship trophy, while the runner-up will pocket $300,000. The third and fourth place finishers will collect $200,000 and $100,000 respectively.
