The West Berbice Cricket Association (BCA) is set to host its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on January 9, with elections of office bearers being on the agenda.
The AGM is slated for the Fort Wellington Secondary School at 13.00 hours, according to a release from the Association.
Also on the agenda is the President’s report and a special announcement.
The posts to be filled include President, Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer.
Longstanding and incumbent President, David Black told this newspaper that he intends to seek re-election to the helm of the Association. He has been heading the Association for a decade. He has also served as Secretary under former Presidents, Randolph Michael and Edwin Joseph.
Also seeking re-election are Carol Nurse as Secretary and Stembiso Williams as Assistant Secretary.
Among the incumbents are Danraj Hamish (Vice-President), Derrick McCalmon (Treasurer) and Carlston Nurse (Assistant Treasurer).
Black told Stabroek Sport that cricket development as well as the identification of eight senior players who would transition into player/coaches were on the front burner of the Association under the late coach Michael Hyles-Franco, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, plans were put on pause.
The clubs that will be casting their votes are Shieldstown, Blairmont, No. 5 Monedderlust, No. 8, Bath, Hopetown United, Achievers, Bush Lot United, Rainbow Generation and Paradise Challenge.
