Leopold Street and Bent Street earned their place in the semifinal round of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)/Kashif and Shanghai Organization Futsal Championship, following quarterfinal victories last evening.
Staged at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Homestretch Avenue, Leopold Street dismissed Renegades 6-3 to earn their place in the final four. The combination of Darren Benjamin and Darron Niles amassed six goals in the rout.
Benjamin led the way with a helmet trick in the third, 12th, 15th and 16th minute, while Niles added a brace in the seventh and 11th minute.
For the loser, Kevin Dundas, Jamal Perreira and Leo Lovell scored in the ninth, 13th and 14th minute respectively. Similarly, Bent Street battled past Back Circle 7-4. Jermin Junior fashioned five goals for the winner in the 11th, 27th, 29th, 35th, and 36th minuted. Adding goals were Daniel Wilson, and William Europe in the 13th and 16th minute correspondingly.
For the loser, Stephon Reynolds, Stephon McLean, Selwyn Williams and Raushan Ritch scored in the 14th, 15th, 23rd and 33rd minute respectively. The tournament will resume tomorrow at the same venue with the second round of quarterfinal matches. Gold is Money will engage North East La Penitence, while Sparta Boss will oppose Berbice All-Stars.
