Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 26-year-old man whose decomposed body was discovered at his Timehri, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home just after midday on Wednesday.
The dead man has been identified as Ron Loncke of Circuitville, Timehri, EBD.
According to a police report, Loncke’s lifeless body was found on his bed around 12.32 pm by a 53-year-old carpenter.
Loncke lived alone in a small shack in the community.
The police said the dead man’s father related that he suffered from epilepsy and was last seen alive on Monday.
On Wednesday afternoon, the police said the carpenter was passing through the area when he observed that the door to Loncke’s shack was open.
As such, he decided to check on Loncke since he hadn’t seen him for several days.
As the man approached the building, police said he started to pick up a foul scent emanating from the house. “He peered inside and observed the bloated body of the deceased (lying) on his bed, in a state of decomposition,” the report said.
The police were immediately contacted and Loncke’s body was examined but there were no signs of struggle or any marks of violence. There was also no sign of forced entry into the shack, the police said.
Loncke’s body was transported to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted soon.
