A 28-year-old man died after the ATV he was travelling on overturned at Nassano Backdam Main Access Road, North West District, Region One on Sunday night.
Dead is Steve Ashby of Canal Bank, Port Kaituma, North West District.
Police yesterday confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the accident which occurred around 18.40hrs.
At the time, Ashby was the pillion rider on the ATV, which was being driven by a Brazilian national known as ‘Ahoo’. He fled the scene.
According to a police report, enquiries revealed that ‘Ahoo’ was proceeding south along the Nassano Backdam Main Access Road, when he lost control and the ATV turned over.
As a result, Ashby was pinned under the ATV, the police said.
He was picked up and escorted to the Port Kaituma District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
