Rose Hall Canje Arborsmart registered an emphatic 295-run drubbing of Edinburgh Warriors yesterday as the Berbice Cricket Board Telenec Under-15 got underway.
Playing on home turf, Rose Hall Canje won the toss and opted to bat, where they chalked up 353 for the loss of one from their 50-over allotment. The bowlers then returned to bundle out Warriors for 58 as they surrendered in 13.2 overs.
The day belonged to Adrian Hetmyer, son of former national youth cricketer, Seon Hetmyer and nephew of West Indies batsman, Shimron Hetmyer. The 12-year-old stroked two sixes and three boundaries as he toiled for more than three hours at the crease, eventually finishing on 121 not out from 138 balls.
Hetmyer added 161 for the opening partnership with his captain, Romario Ramdeholl, who made 63 from 94 balls, decorated with five boundaries before falling to Dimitri Williams (1-34).
Nevertheless, Jaden Edwards joined Hetmyer and the two saw their side to the end of their innings while sharing in a 192-run partnership.
Edwards notched up 58 not out from 73 balls while hitting just a single boundary. Warriors also contributed to the hefty total, giving the hosts a disappointing 111 extras, 96 of which were wides.
In the chase, no batsman reached double figures but like Warriors, Rose Hall Canje were also sloppy in their bowling, giving away 50 extras inclusive of 41 wides.
Abdulla Azad picked up 2-3 and was supported by Nicholas Hall (2-21) while Jonathan Outar, Lakeram Singh and Enrique Mickle bagged one wicket each.
