President Irfaan Ali yesterday launched the Agriculture and Innovation Entrepreneurship Programme at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC).
Through support and investments by the Government and the private sector, the programme will provide the capacity for the growth and development of young Guyanese in the agriculture sector, a release from the Office of the President said.
The President said that the first phase will see young people forming a company and building shaded houses to plant high-value crops.
Several dozen young Guyanese turned up for the event, which was also attended by private sector representatives and Ministers of Government, including Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh and Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha.
