Simone Edwards, the security guard who was injured last week after she was attacked by her partner at their Linden home remains hospitalised in a stable condition.
This was confirmed by Police Commander, Hugh Winter who told Stabroek News that as the investigation continues, the police yesterday obtained a statement from Edwards.
The suspect, who was allegedly beaten before he was handed over to the police was also admitted to the said hospital under police guard.
Winter said that he was discharged yesterday and taken into police custody. He added that the suspect’s mother only reported the alleged beating on Tuesday and it is also being investigated.
“We are still investigating the entire incident,” Winter said.
Thirty-one-year-old Edwards, a mother of four sustained a fractured skull and broken left arm during the incident which took place around 5 pm last Tuesday at Block 22, Wismar, Linden.
Reports are that Edwards and the suspect have been living together with their four children for the past six years and they had ongoing domestic issues.
The police had said that it was related to them that on the afternoon of January 4th the couple returned home from work together and went to the eastern side of the house where they began talking.
The suspect then went into the house and came out back after which Edwards was heard speaking loudly.
The suspect was later seen hitting Edwards with a piece of wood.
