A half century from Christopher Barnwell followed by a four-wicket haul from Nial Smith were the standout performances on day two of the third Guyana Harpy Eagles practice match.
Yesterday, at the National Stadium, Providence, Keemo Paul’s XI advanced their 32-run first innings lead to 144 as they closed on 112 for six. Johnson’s XI were bowled out for 150 in 47.3 overs, responding to 182 all out made by Paul’s XI.
Barnwell resisted the consistent breakthroughs to help Johnson’s XI along the way, hitting 10 boundaries during his 119-ball 66.
His only support came from Junior Sinclair who made 41 from 61 balls. Sinclair struck two sixes and four fours while adding 99 for the ninth wicket with Barnwell.
It was Paul’s pacers who enjoyed success, led by Nial Smith who bagged 4-40 and supported by Ronsford Beaton and Keon Joseph with two wickets each.
In Paul’s XI second innings, Akshaya Persaud, who top scored with 62 in the first innings toiled for 36 from 70 balls before being trapped leg before wicket to Anthony Adam’s.
Persaud had added 58 for the fourth wicket with Kemol Savory (23).
Gudakesh Motie and Demitri Cameron picked up two wickets apiece.
