A pump attendant was shot this morning at a New Amsterdam gas station during an attempted robbery.
The injured man has been identified only as “Ronnie,” from Fort Ordnance New Housing Scheme. He was rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital in a critical condition.
Stabroek News was told that he was shot once in his neck and once in his back.
Police are currently in the area searching for the lone perpetrator who carried out the brazen attack, which occurred around 11 am.
According to an eyewitness, pump attendant Rondell McGarrell, the perpetrator rushed the injured pump attendant, who had worked the night shift and was preparing to go home. “He try to grab the bag and the bag fall down and when he see the man na give he the bag he pull out the gun and he fire,” McGarrell said
In September last year, another pump attendant was shot at the same gas station during a robbery.
