Engineers and regional officials on Thursday night managed to stop the flooding of rice lands and other properties in the Evergreen/Paradise Neighbourhood Democratic Council (NDC) in Region Two, with the installation of a stop logs following the collapse of a koker door at Andrews Sluice.
The sluice door had collapsed around 17:00 hrs due to pressure from powerful waves during the above normal high tide.
According to the Region’s Vice Chair-man Humace Oodit, the region’s engineer and staff from the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) worked for over three hours to fix the door.
