Searches intensified yesterday for a 54-year-old Wakenaam man, who went missing on Thursday night after the boat he was in capsized in the Essequibo River.
Lakeram Kuber, of Bell Plaine, Wakenaam Island, went missing on Thursday night and is believed to have drowned. Police and residents continued to search for his body yesterday.
The accident occurred around 23:00 hrs on Thursday.
Sources told this newspaper that at the time Kuber was in the company of Feroze Amin, of Good Success, Wakenaam, and Floyd Dazzell.
Amin travelled to Supenaam in a fiber-glass boat, powered by a 100 HP outboard engine, to pick up Dazzell. Theyhad picked up Dazzell when the mishap occurred. Amin and Dazzell managed to swim safely to the Wakenaam shore.
