The Health Ministry on Saturday confirmed one more COVID-19 death and a total of 296 more infections.
The Ministry, in a statement, reported that a 57-year-old unvaccinated Pomeroon-Supenaam woman, who succumbed on Friday, was the country’s latest COVID-19 fatality. Her death took the total number of COVID-19 fatalities recorded by Guyana to 1,180.
Meanwhile, Region Four recorded the highest record of new cases, according to the ministry updated COVID-19 dashboard. The region recorded 72 of the 296 new cases recorded on Friday following the release of the results of 1,302 more tests.
Region One recorded 34 new cases, Region Two recorded 13, Region Three recorded 30, Region Five recorded 11, Region Six recorded 29, Region Seven recorded 9, Region Eight recorded 38 and Region Nine recorded 59. Region Ten recorded a single new case.
The new cases increased the country’s total number of cases to 61,404. The dashboard also showed 14 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 5,343 persons in home isolation, 127 persons in institutional isolation and nine persons in institutional quarantine.
