Gov’t severs ties with Guyana Ships Registry rep

The Government of Guyana yesterday inform-ed Nautilus Register “ClassNR”, a subsidiary of Aryavart Corporation, that it is to cease all representation of Guyana and its Maritime Administration (MARAD) citing termination of a memorandum of understanding (MoU)  due to breach of contractual negotiations.

With a national population census due this year, Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh, on Thursday assured that it will proceed and that funds have been budgeted for the process.

Ninvalle pledges NSC, government support to Shepperd

Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, has pledged the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Government of Guyana’s support towards helping National Volleyball player, Kristoff Shepperd recover from an accident.  Shepperd, behind the wheels of his motorcar, collided with a truck while navigating onto Mandela Avenue from Homestretch Avenue on the evening of February 7.   The injuries sustained from the accident placed Shepperd in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital where doctors, as of today, listed his condition as ‘critical’ but stable.

Hennessy shoots support to Rawle Toney 3X3 Classic

Ansa McAL, behind one of the world’s most popular cognacs, Hennessy, has partnered with the Rawle Toney 3X3 Classic, which is set for February 19 – 20 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.   Hennessy had announced itself as the ‘spirit’ of basketball in Guyana when they adopted and refurbished the Burnham Basketball Court under their global basketball initiative.   The Rawle Toney 3X3 Classic will feature 16 teams from around Guyana, the Caribbean and North America, vying for a winner’s purse of $500,000.
