Police in Regional Division #1 are currently searching for a man who has gone into hiding after allegedly killing forty-three-year-old Venezuelan national Rafael Antonio Aquino Soto between the 10th and 11th of February, 2022, at Return, Baramita, North West District.
A party of policemen has travelled to the area where the incident occurred. A police release today said that so far investigations have revealed that the suspect and the victim, who are not known to each other, were at a shop at Return, Baramita, NWD, consuming alcohol about 16:00 hours on 2022-02-10 after which they both left but met up on the Return, Baramita Road where the victim convinced a female to go with him instead of with the suspect. When she did, the suspect allegedly became annoyed and a heated argument ensued, the police said.
The suspect then pulled out a knife from his pants waist and dealt the victim one stab to his chest and escaped.
Medex Edghillo visited the scene and pronounced the victim dead and his body was transported to the Port Kaituma mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
