Team Alanis’ Kemuel Moses kicked off the cycling season in fine style yesterday, soloing to victory in the ‘Momentum’ 50-mile road race.
Moses stopped the clock in 1:50:43 in the 45-mile season opener from CARIFESTA Avenue to Mahaica and back.
The 25 year-old wheelman led breakaway mates, Paul Chooweenam and Kwame Ridley onto the podium. Jamual John, Llyn Murray and Curtis Dey filled out the top six rewarding positions for the event which attracted 39 starters in the peloton.
Post race, Moses stated that he felt “pretty good” and hopes that he can continue his heroics throughout the season since his goal is to be a prominent fixture on the national team.
“I just hope I can carry on right through the year. Carry on and keep winning, I would love to make the national team. That is my biggest goal right now.”
Meanwhile, in perfect conditions for racing, Clavicia Spencer got the better of a returning Marica Dick to the saddle to take the spoils in the female category.
Alex Leung earned the spoils in the junior category, while Raymond Newton came up trumps in the O-50 category.
Sponsors for the race included: International Imports and Supplies
Ray’s Auto Sales and Professional Keyshop.
The cycling season continues the first week in March. Moses will be hoping to keep the momentum and extend his streak on the circuit.
