The Ministry of Health on Friday reported five more COVID-19 deaths, including four octogenarians, as well as 48 new infections and Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony urged Guyanese to be careful while participating in upcoming Mashramani celebrations.
In a statement, the ministry said the latest fatalities bring the total number of COVID-19 deaths recorded in Guyana to 1,208.
The deceased, who succumbed between Tuesday and Friday, were identified as an 87-year-old woman from Region Six; a 72-year-old woman from Region Three; and an 81-year-old woman, an 82-year-old woman and an 87-year-old man, all from Region Four. Three of them were unvaccinated while the vaccination status of the others was listed as “unknown.”
