Dear Editor
The story about the 75 farmers who have invested in food production being told to make way for ‘gas to shore’ is frightening.
It is frightening because it seems the government is keen to convert food producing lands into some desolate landscape, with a pipeline bringing gas to shore, which may or may not be used after 40 years. Isn’t the oil supposed to run out by the time some of the people pushing the oil consumption would have retired, or not be able to fully enjoy the money from the oil? Is it the intention to turn farmers into oil and gas workers? Is part of our ‘Dubai’ vision to become one vast desert?
Sincerely,
