The Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) Inter-Association Under-15 cricket tournament bowls off tomorrow at various venues in Demerara.
According to a release from the DCB, the tournament will be sponsored by Premier Insurance Inc., Guyana.
The tournament will conclude March 1.
“Some of the venues that will be used in this tournament are Everest in George-town, Enmore on the East Coast, Farm Ground on the East Bank and Meten-Meer-Zorg on the West Coast,” the release stated.
According to the DCB, the tournament will be used to select the Demerara U-15 team to participate in the Guyana Cricket Board’s U-15 Inter-County competition.
Meanwhile, Friday, the DCB received sponsorship from Premier Insurance Inc., for the competition.
Present at the handing over ceremony were members of DCB including Secretary Davteerth Anandjit, Assistant Secretary Ronald Williams and Administrator Kavita Yadram.
Anil Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the company handed over the cheque at the International Energy conference and Exhibition 2022 held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel.
He highlighted his company’s profound interest in collaborating with the DCB in the venture, which he said has immense potential to enhance the cricketing lives of those involved, the U15 players. Singh also indicated his company’s willingness to invest through cricket sponsorship for youths not only in Demerara and said that he was looking forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship between DCB and his company, the DCB release stated.
“Premier Insurance Inc., is one of the newest companies in the Insurance Industry in Guyana and is already making a name for itself. This sponsorship is a positive intervention for Demerara’s youth cricket and its marketing unit,” stated the DCB in its release.
In reply, the DCB representatives expressed heartfelt thanks to Premier Insurance for the sponsorship initiative and said that they wished the company much success in the future and that they were looking forward to long standing sponsorship from the company.
