Two men were yesterday remanded to prison after they were charged with damage to property and simple larceny over the raiding of a tomb at Hampshire Cemetery, Corentyne.
A woman who was charged with conspiring with the men was placed on $50,000 bail.
On Friday last, relatives of Vishnu Samaroo, also known as “Antonio”, 19, who died on January 18 after losing his battle to stage four cancer discovered that his tomb had been broken into and his body tossed aside. The young man was buried three days after he succumbed. There had been reports circulating in the community that Samaroo had been buried with valuables.
