The Panthers Rugby Club s continued its winning ways while the Police rugby team marched to victory over the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) when the Guyana Rugby Football Union 10s league continued last weekend at the National Park.
The undefeated Pathers club once again showed their superiority with a 48-17 mauling of the Hornets/Caribs unit with Lance Adonis leading the way with three tries.
In the other game, Police blew away the GDF 67-12 with Lionel Holder providing the heroics.
Holder recorded six tries and a conversion in the commanding win versus his counterparts from the disciplined forces. He was supported by two tries apiece from Cleveland Daw and Theo Henry who also chipped in with two conversions. Adrian Hall and Michael Barrow were also on the scoresheet for Police.
A try each by Avery Corbin and Denzel Junor along with a conversion by Akino James were all the scores GDF could record.
Adonis was propped up by two tries and four conversions from fellow national player, Godfrey Broomes. The Panthers also got tries from D’Arcy Durant (two) and Osei McKenzie (one).
Patrick King, Jonathan Garnett and Claudius Butts were the try scorers for the hybrid Hornets/Caribs outfit.
Ryan Gonsalves nailed the only conversion to bring the scoreline to 17.
Following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) this weekend, the league will recommence on March 6.
