Two more COVID-19 deaths, 78 new cases recorded

Two more persons have succumbed to the novel coronavirus which now takes the death toll to 1,215 as of yesterday according to the Ministry of Health.

Further, the number of active cases is now at 823, with the discovery of 78 new cases.

On the ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard, 8 of those cases have been recorded from Region One, 5 cases from Region Two, 3 cases from Region Three, 37 cases from Region Four, 4 cases from Region Six, 4 cases from Region Seven, and 17 cases from Region Nine.

In addition, 10 persons are now in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

As the ministry continues its inoculation process, 430,877 adults have taken the 1st dose, while 325,696 of those persons received the 2nd dose. In addition 49,068 booster doses have been administered so far.

Further, the vaccination rate in the 12-17 age category continues to be low with 33,411 children taking the 1st dose while 24,058 are now fully vaccinated with the second dose.
