A teenager died yesterday morning after crashing into the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL)’s fence on the Diamond Public Road.
Dead is 18-year-old Prakash Salvador of Lot 1316 Section C, Block Y Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara.
The accident occurred at 08:15 am on the eastern carriageway of the Diamond Public Road.
According to a Guyana Police Force press release, Salvador was driving motorcar PAB 8239 and was proceeding south along the eastern drive lane at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the DDL fence which is located on the eastern side of the Diamond Public Road.
As a result of the crash, the vehicle was damaged extensively and the driver suffered serious injuries.
Salvador was taken out of the vehicle by public-spirited citizens in an unconscious state and transported to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was seen by doctors but died while receiving medical attention.
The body was taken to Carmen’s Funeral Home where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
