A 19-year-old internet technician was yesterday electrocuted while on duty.
Dead is Anphony Monroe of Lot 4364, Central Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden and who was employed with the Re-Link Wireless Internet Service located in Central Amelia’s Ward.
According to a Guyana Police Force (GPF) press release, the incident occurred at about 1 pm at a customer’s home at Lot 1406 Central Amelia’s Ward where Monroe and another colleague, identified as Rylon Sandy, were on duty. Monroe and his colleague were at the time tasked with the maintenance of internet service at the said customer’s address.
According to Sandy, they were in the process of installing a metal pole which is about 38 feet in length into the ground at the western side of the customer’s yard, which is within close proximity of a few electrical lamp pole wires, when the metal pole accidently touched the electrical wires causing them both to suffer shocks about their bodies.
Monroe was immediately picked up by Sandy and was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body is presently at the De Jestoc’s Funeral Parlor awaiting post mortem examination.
