The Lady Jaguars suffered their first loss in the 2022 Concacaf women’s U20 Championship, suffering a 0-5 thrashing at the hands of heavyweight Mexico yesterday at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
It was a humbling defeat for the Guyanese in what was the second meeting of the teams in the tournament history, as the contest was effectively over at the end of the first half following a 3-0 advantage. Mexico defeated Guyana 3-0 in the 2020 edition at the same stage of the tournament.
Paola Chavero commenced the rout with a 10th-minute penalty conversion before Maritza Maldonado tallied the first of two eventual conversions in the 28th minute.
