Two men arrested after allegedly found wrapping pellets of cocaine

Two men were on Wednesday arrested by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) when an operation was carried out and they were allegedly discovered wrapping pellets of cocaine.

The operation was conducted at a residence on Front Road, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

The suspects have been identified as 44-year-old Ron Reid and 45-year-old Nigel Dundas. They were arrested and taken to the CANU headquarters.

Pellets of cocaine that were found

The suspected narcotic was positively tested as cocaine and weighed in the presence of Reid and Dundas. The 100-plus pellets amounted to 1.084 kilogrammes with a street value of approximately $1.2 million

According to CANU, Reid is no stranger to the unit, since on March 2, 2015, he and his common-law wife were arrested with 70 grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. In 2017, CANU issued a wanted bulletin for Reid after his accomplice was intercepted at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri with 114 pellets of cocaine which he ingested.

Watkins subsequently pled guilty and was sentenced to four years in prison. The following day, Reid turned himself into CANU.

Investigations are still ongoing.
