The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/West Berbice Cricket Association/Jaffarally T20 tournament is expected to bowl off this weekend in West Berbice with nine matches tomorrow.
According to the BCB, the tournament is open to players living as far as and up to the Abary Bridge and must be fully vaccinated. A walk-over shall be granted to the opposing side should a team be more than half an hour late for the scheduled start of play while captains who turn up 20 minutes late will forfeit the toss. Players must be in their white attire.
Paradise Ground will feature a double header encounter with Rainbow Generation taking on Belladrum Community Centre Cricket Club from 10.00 hours followed by Paradise Challenges battling Woodley Park.
Over at Blairmont No. 3 Ground, Blairmont Renaissance will go toe to toe with defending champions, D’Edward Cricket Club from noon. Bath Community Centre Cricket Club will host Trafalgar Union from 13.00 hours while Achievers Cricket Club will lock horns with Blairmont Community Cricket Club at Bush Lot from 10.00 hours.
At Hopetown Ground, Hopetown United will go up against West Berbice Police from 14.00 hours while Bush Lot United will play Cotton Tree Diehards at Bush Lot Ground from 14.00 hours.
The final match of the day will see Bath Cricket Club facing No.5 Monedderlust at No.5 Ground from 13.00 hours.
The following players are debarred from Berbice Second Division Tournaments: Keon Joseph, Raun Johnson, Romario Shepherd, Nial Smith, Gajanand Singh, Shimron Hetmyer, Gudakesh Motie, Veersammy Permaul, Devendra Bishoo, Jonathan Foo, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Narsingh Deonarine, Royston Crandon, Clinton Pestano, Kevin Sinclair, Esaun Crandon, Assad Fudadin, Rajiv Ivan, Eon Hooper, Anthony Bramble, Brandon Bess, and Mahendra Nagamootoo.
Member of Parliament, Faizal Jaffarally, in his brief remarks at the sponsorship ceremony stated that as long as Hilbert Foster remains the head of the board, he would support the game as he leads a very accountable, visionary and transparent administration which has transformed the game in the county.
He pledged continued support and even hinted that the developmental project could be expanded in the future.
Foster, who described Jaffarally as a personal friend, hailed his contribution to the game and stated that the Member of Parliament was one of the main reasons his presidency is a success.
