A man was taken into custody on Thursday after a Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) operation resulted in the seizure of two parcels of cocaine.
In a brief statement, CANU said Ian Griffith, 45, of North East La Penitence, was arrested and escorted to its headquarters along with the suspected narcotics, which tested positive for cocaine and had a total of 2.330 kilos, with a street value of $2.6 million.
CNU noted that the arrest and seizure followed an operation between Ruby and Den Amstel, on the East Bank Essequibo, on Thursday.
