Dear Editor,
In follow-up to your editorial ‘Critics’ in the Sunday Stabroek for March 06, 2022, I suggest that the leadership of the PPP/C should re-read its 2020 election manifesto, to remind itself that it still has some important promises to act upon. One of these is its commitment to re-negotiate the Production Sharing Agreement with ExxonMobil: ‘Securing the benefits of oil and gas for all Guyanese – to ensure that our oil resource is managed responsibly, the PPP/C will: … immediately engage the oil and gas companies in better contract administration/re-negotiation’, on page 3 of the 8 pages of the PPP/C’s ‘Our plan for prosperity; excerpts from PPP/C manifesto 2020-2025’, January 2022. These 8 pages were said to be only extracts from a full manifesto document. I am not able to find online that full document but I suppose that it would repeat this important promise.
Yours faithfully,
Janette Bulkan
