Christopher Franklin and Shemar Britton will contest the round of 16 of the men’s singles at the62nd annual Caribbean table Tennis Championships today in Cuba.
Franklin will oppose Cuba’s Adrian Perez while Britton will oppose Barbados’ Kevin Farley.
Yesterday Britton dispatched Jamaica’s Christopher Marsh 11-6, 11-5, 11-5 to play unbeaten is his group while Franklin booked his place in the last 16 by defeating Trinidad’s Aaron Wilson 7-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-7.
Jonathan Van Lange took a game off of Puerto Rico’s Oscar Birrell losing 7-11, 3-11, 11-7, and 11-9 while Miguel Wong defeated Trinidad’s Joshua Maxwell 11-6, 11-9, 12-10.
None of the fame players managed to emerge from their groups with Chelsea Edghill losing yesterday to Dominican Republic’s Shary Munoz 11-9, 10-12, 8-11, 9-11. She had earlier lost to Puerto Rico’s Fabiola Diaz but had beaten Anthonette Riley.
Natalie Cummings also lost her match yesterday going down to Kristal Melendez of Puerto Rico 13-15, 9-11, 10-12 while Priscilla Greaves was beaten by Krystal Harvey of Barbados 5-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-2, 9-11.
