Three men were taken before a city magistrate yesterday to answer to separate charges, including robbery of a school girl, and armed robbery.
Orin Favourite, called ‘Solo’, Devin Nurse, and Michael George were taken before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in Georgetown.
Favourite was charged with robbing a school girl of a cellphone valued at over $30,000.
The police prosecutor told the court that the student was waiting to go home after school when she was robbed. Video footage of the robbery, which was shared on social media, shows the student standing in her school uniform, surrounded by other students, when a man walks up to the group, grabs the phone from her and walks away.
The prosecutor objected to Favourite being released on bail, while noting his past conviction as well as other pending robbery charges before the court.
Meanwhile, Nurse denied that on June 14, at Hibiscus Street, George-town, while being armed with a gun, he robbed Ryan McIntyre of two cellphones, two gold chains and $80,000 cash, amounting to a total of $425,000.
The 28-year-old clothes vendor was wanted by the police for the robbery, according to the prosecutor. He said that the man was on the run before being arrested on March 3.
George was charged afterwards and he denied that between March 1, 2022 and March 3, 2022, at Crown Street, Queens-town, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Bishwa Panday and stole a bicycle, a machine, a pump, drop cords and two bottles of Fabuloso cleaning liquid, which carried a total value of $105,000.
The three men were remanded and the matters were adjourned until March 28.
