To celebrate International Women’s Day 2022, the Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) yesterday hosted a ‘Bake Sale’ to raise funds to support free cancer screening tests for women, and to assist women diagnosed with cancer or survivors.
Through the sale of cakes in the Quality Hall of the GNBS and supported by employees of the Bureau, the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and other agencies, a sum of $85,200 was raised. The cash was yesterday afternoon handed over to Founder of the Giving Hope Foundation, Dr. Latoya Gooding.
The Foundation was established in 2016 to provide assistance to mostly women affected by cancer.
A similar initiative was hosted in 2021 which gathered a total of $55,600, all of which was handed over to Blossom Inc. yesterday afternoon as they aim to provide care for underprivileged women and children.
