A US-based man who visited Guyana to participate in his brother’s wedding died this morning after he was stabbed.
Dead is 21-year-old Lakhan Chaterpaul of Ohio, US. He reportedly sustained one stab wound in his lower abdomen.
Two persons have since been arrested while investigators are hunting for a third.
The incident occurred at around 1.30 am today at Grant 1802 Crabwood Creek, Corentyne.
Chaterpaul was rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
According to information gathered, the family were playing music and having a small get-together when the suspects entered. However, after some time they were asked to leave which angered them.
Stabroek News was told that they then proceeded to interfere with the cars parked on the road causing the family to head onto the road.
It was then that an argument ensued and the man was stabbed.
