Dear Editor,
In the context of our much espoused ‘Human Development’ programme, the undersigned had prayed that some member of our President’s support team at the recent Caricom Heads’ Conference would have taken the initiative to enquire of his/her counterparts about the retirement age (of Public Servants) in the respective member states, in order to inform our leader (and in the process, predecessors) that Guyana – the first Republic in the Region – still needs to correct the pensionable age of its colonial heritage – to be consistent with its colleague administrations.
Hopefully, such a matter would incite ‘unity’, if only to match our already agreed NIS eligibility of sixty (60) years – a good space during which the aspirations of GOAL scorers can grow to fulfill; assuming of course they are not employed on contract?
Yours faithfully,
E.B. John
