The captain who was involved in the boat mishap on the Essequibo River on March 8 has had his licence suspended pending investigations that are currently being conducted by the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD).
The boat is currently impounded at Parika.
On March 8 a chaotic situation broke out on the Essequibo River when a passenger boat en route to Parika collided with a fishing vessel. The incident occurred around 17:00 hours just off Wakenaam Island. According to information received, the boat negotiated a turn then collided with a fishing boat.
