The Rest Selection and Team Rashad clinched the senior and U14 divisions respectively when the South Turkeyen Sports Committee (STSC) conducted a three-a-side small goal football championship at the B field tarmac in Sophia on Sunday.
The Rest Selection defeated the Combined Team 2-1. Shawn Williams and Lennox Grimes were on target in the win. For the losers, Rohan Wiltshire found the back of the net. In the U14 final, Team Rashad McKenzie defeated Team Terron McKenzie by a 3-1 scoreline.
Rashad McKenzie crafted a double while Brandon Wray netted once in the victory. An own goal was tallied for the losers. The respective winner received trophies and medals from the National Sports Commission as well as a cash incentives compliments of Jacobs Jewellery and Pawn Shop.
Meanwhile, the STSC will conduct another three-a-side competition March 18th at the same venue. Teams from the community as well as the Tucville and Lodge environs are expected to feature.
Similarly, tournament coordinator, Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell, will host a birthday celebration competition at the Vryheid’s Lust tarmac on April 2nd and 3rd respectively. Matches will be hosted in the U14, U16 and senior sections correspondingly.
